The Kitchen [click to enlarge]The farmhouse kitchen has a terracotta tiled floor, exposed stone walls and a vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams. Whilst retaining a rustic charm, the kitchen is well equipped with a fridge-freezer, a gas cooker, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a tumble drier, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster. Matching crockery and cutlery for up to 12 guests has been supplied.
The kitchen also has a 2 metre oak table, seating 10-12 people, should guests prefer to dine inside. A Jotul wood-burning stove heats the kitchen during the cooler months and a second wood-burning stove heats the barn. The sitting room [click to enlarge]From the kitchen, steps lead down to a small, cosy sitting room with a beamed ceiling, a terracotta tiled floor and a large open fireplace. The room faces south and catches the sun all day long.
The small sitting room has been furnished with new and antique furniture, including two comfortable leather sofas. A DVD-player, CD-player, satellite TV and a selection of board games have been provided to keep both young and old entertained.The sitting room [click to enlarge]
The sitting room fireplace [click to enlarge]The sitting room opens into an inner hall which used to be the main entrance to the house. Access to the master bedroom, the upper bedroom and the converted barn with its summer sitting room is all via the inner hall.
The master bedroom (bedroom 1) is on the ground floor and has gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. It has been furnished with pine furniture, comprising a double bed, bedside tables, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Bedroom 2 [click to enlarge]From the inner hall, a staircase leads up to a second bedroom (bedroom 2) which has a pine double bed, a chest of drawers, bedside tables and a hanging rail. This bedroom has a sloping ceiling with exposed beams - and two roof windows make it airy and bright. The traditional pargetting on the chimney breast adds to the character of this bedroom.
The third bedroom (bedroom 3) is on the ground floor and has two bunk beds (to sleep four), bedside shelves, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Barn mezzanine bedroom [click to enlarge]The farmhouse has an attached barn which is now an immense summer sitting room with a mezzanine bedroom (bedroom 4). Stairs from the summer sitting room lead up to this fourth bedroom, which has been comfortably furnished with twin beds, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. The bedroom has a natural wood floor and the barn’s impressive vaulted ceiling arches right over the mezzanine as well.
The property has two bathrooms. One bathroom is en suite to the master bedroom and can also be accessed from the barn’s summer sitting room. The second bathroom is a larger family bathroom with a bath with mixer shower, a hand basin and a WC.
The summer sitting room, with its vaulted ceiling and exposed stone walls, measures 33’ x 19’. The sofa in this room can be converted into a comfortable double bed to provide additional sleeping accommodation if necessary. The summer sitting room is not centrally heated, but has a wood-burning stove for warmth during the cooler months of the year.Barn sitting room [click to enlarge]
Barn sitting room [click to enlarge]The summer sitting room and mezzanine bedroom are accessible via the inner hall of the farmhouse - but this access could be locked to make the barn and farmhouse independent of each other. This degree of privacy may be desirable if two families are sharing the property, for example. In addition, a door from the summer sitting room opens directly to the front of the farmhouse, giving the barn its own separate entrance door.
The covered terrace adjacent to the farmhouse is accessed via double French doors in the summer sitting room. The terrace overlooks the pool and grounds and has been equipped with an extending patio table, ample chairs, a parasol and a barbecue - everything you could possibly need for dining alfresco or for just sitting and admiring the glorious views of the surrounding Dordogne countryside.Lazy lunch [click to enlarge]
